Why people start

Everyone arrives here for a different reason.

Most students arrive with one of four intentions. Each one points to a different starting level, which is the main thing an advisor helps you work out.

Kerala Ayurveda Academy Vaidyas
For yourself

You want to understand your own health

Digestion, sleep, energy, stress, and the routines that shape your days. Many students enroll primarily for themselves and find the knowledge naturally extends to family and loved ones. You do not need professional goals for this training to be worth it.

For the people around you

You want to support family and friends properly

Not with half-remembered advice from books and podcasts, but with a structured framework for guidance you can actually apply to food, routine, sleep, and seasonal living.

For a new direction

You are considering a career in Ayurveda

Coaching, counseling, or clinical practice, depending on how far up the pathway you go. The entry level is a coaching scope; the upper levels are where clinical training sits.

For work you already do

You want to bring Ayurveda into your practice

Yoga teachers, health coaches, nurses, therapists, and bodyworkers use this training to deepen what they already offer, applying Ayurvedic principles within the scope of their current profession.

“Studying with the teachers at Kerala Ayurveda Academy was a truly meaningful experience. The curriculum is very well structured, and I was able to immediately apply what I learned in my own life and begin supporting a few people with their lifestyle and dietary habits.”

The pathway

Four levels. One continuous tradition.

Each level builds on the one before it, and foundational coursework transfers directly upward. You are choosing a starting point, not a destination.

Level 1 · HAC

Ayurveda for daily life and coaching others

300 hours · 6 months · online or in-person. The Holistic Ayurvedic Coach certification. Six modules covering Ayurvedic principles, physiology, psychology, nutrition and cooking, prevention science, and yoga. A coaching scope, not clinical practice.

Level 2 · AHC

Counselor-level training

600 hours · 1 year · online plus one practicum. The Ayurvedic Health Counselor program. Your first six modules from Level 1 transfer directly in, so the foundation is not repeated.

Level 3 · AP

Ayurvedic Practitioner

900 hours · partial in-person required. Deeper clinical training for students moving toward professional practice.

Level 4 · AAP

Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner

2,500 hours · partial in-person required. The most advanced level of the pathway, for students pursuing full mastery and depth in traditional Ayurvedic study.

Why Kerala Ayurveda Academy

What you get here that you will not get elsewhere

01

Vaidyas who teach and practice

Faculty are BAMS trained Vaidyas bringing both teaching and clinical experience to the classroom. Many continue to work directly with clients through Kerala Ayurveda Wellness Centers, so the material arrives with real-world perspective attached.

02

Live instruction, recorded for good

Learning happens through Weekend Intensives, virtual classes, group mentoring, and clinical practicums. Every live session is recorded, and graduates keep access to recordings, course materials, and the eLearning library long after a cohort ends.

03

Coursework that carries forward

Foundational hours transfer directly up the pathway rather than being repeated, so starting at the entry level costs you nothing if you later decide to continue into counselor or practitioner training.

04

A global community of learners

Study alongside students across the United States, India, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and beyond. Through discussion boards, continuing education, events, and professional connections, the learning continues long after graduation.

Before you book

Is this pathway right for you?

We would rather you know now than three weeks into a cohort.

Likely a fit if

  • You want structured study rather than more books, podcasts, and scattered reading.
  • You can protect weekend intensives across a cohort, plus a few hours around them each week.
  • You are comfortable learning live and alongside a cohort, online or in person in Milpitas.
  • You want your hours to count toward the next level if you decide to continue.

Probably not a fit if

  • You want to diagnose or treat conditions after the entry level. That is a coaching scope; clinical training sits further up the pathway.
  • You want fully self-paced study with no live attendance. Recordings exist, but every level is built around live sessions.
  • You are hoping to finish in a few weeks. The shortest level runs six months.
  • You need a credential to practice under right away. This is a pathway, and where you land depends on the level you complete.
Tuition

Tuition depends on where you start.

Each level carries its own tuition, and payment plans are available at every one of them. An advisor will walk through the numbers for the level that actually fits you, along with scholarships and any transfer credits you may already have.

Common questions

The questions we get most.

Which level should I start with?+
Almost everyone starts at Level 1, the 300-hour Holistic Ayurvedic Coach certification, because the foundation is the same regardless of how far you eventually want to go and the hours transfer directly upward. The exception is students who already hold formal Ayurvedic training, which an advisor will assess individually.
What happens on the advisor call?+
It is a twenty minute conversation with a real advisor, not a sales script. You'll talk through your background and what you want out of studying Ayurveda, and the advisor will recommend a starting level and walk you through the cohort schedule, format options, and payment plans. If none of our programs is the right fit, they will say so.
Do I need to be ready to enroll to book a call?+
No. Most people book while they are still comparing schools. Bringing your questions to the call is usually faster than working through them alone, and there is no obligation afterward.
Do I need any prior experience?+
Not for the entry level. Students arrive from wellness, healthcare, and coaching backgrounds, from Indian and South Asian families studying formally for the first time, and from years of self-directed reading and practice. Upper levels require the levels beneath them.
How is this different from other Ayurveda schools?+
Three things. The teaching sits inside an 80 year Kerala lineage as part of Kerala Ayurveda Limited, with its network of clinics, hospitals, and wellness centers in India. The faculty are BAMS-trained Vaidyas educated in India rather than instructors trained abroad. And the levels are built as one pathway, so foundational hours carry forward instead of being repeated.
What's the actual time commitment?+
The entry level runs six months and includes 6 weekend intensives, 12 virtual classes, 5 group mentoring sessions, and 1 clinical practicum day, with recorded lectures and assignments in between at your own pace. Weeks with an intensive are heavier than weeks without one. Upper levels run longer and require partial in-person attendance.
Can I do this online, or do I have to travel?+
The first two levels can be completed online, with one practicum at Level 2. Attend live sessions from anywhere or in person at our Academy and Wellness Center in Milpitas, California. Levels 3 and 4 require partial in-person attendance. All live sessions are recorded either way.
What can I do professionally with each level?+
Level 1 is a coaching scope: lifestyle and wellness coaching around daily routines, food, stress management, sleep, seasonal living, and habit change, not clinical practice. Counselor, practitioner, and advanced practitioner training sit at the levels above it. Many wellness professionals also use the entry level to deepen work they already do within the scope of their current profession.
Is this NAMACB-aligned?+
Kerala Ayurveda Academy's programs sit on a pathway to NAMACB accreditation, and board certification eligibility depends on the level of training completed. An advisor can confirm exactly where you would stand based on your background and which level you start at.
Are international students welcome?+
Yes. The student and alumni community spans the United States, India, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and beyond. All live sessions are streamed and recorded, so students in other time zones can attend what works and catch the rest on replay.
Can I visit or study in India?+
As students move up the pathway they can continue their learning through clinical observation, Panchakarma immersion at our residential retreat in Bangalore, and internship experiences in Kerala. These are offered alongside the certification levels rather than as part of them.
What's the refund and withdrawal policy?+
Refund and withdrawal terms are set out in the enrollment agreement, which an advisor will send before you commit to a cohort. Ask about it on the call so you have the terms in writing.
