Ayurveda for Modern Living with Vaidya Jayarajan Kodikannath

This isn't about overhauls or impossible routines. It's about coming home to yourself, one simple, powerful shift at a time.

The Promise Ayurveda for Modern Living
First, the basics

So what is Ayurveda, really?

Most people have heard the word and seen it on a tea label. The actual tradition is much bigger, much older, and far more practical than that.

01

It's the science of life, not a supplement

Ayurveda is a complete framework for understanding the body, the mind, and how they respond to food, sleep, stress, seasons, and stage of life. The word literally translates as "the wisdom of life."

02

It works through what you do every day

The most powerful tools in Ayurveda aren't supplements or protocols. They're the food on your plate, the time you go to sleep, how you move, and the rhythms you keep across the seasons. Small daily inputs, applied with awareness, are where the change comes from.

03

It's been refined for 5,000 years

Long before modern science existed, Ayurveda had a working model of digestion, sleep, stress, and seasonal health. The same framework that worked then still works now. Modern research is catching up to a lot of it.

Why this program

Most intro programs teach you about Ayurveda. This one teaches you to live it.

If you've explored Ayurveda before, you know most beginner programs are short, surface level introductions. High on inspiration, low on real life application. Ayurveda for Modern Living was designed to be the opposite.

01

A 28 week container, not a weekend workshop

Where most intro programs end after a weekend or a few video lessons, this is a 28 week live journey. Long enough for the practices to actually take hold in your daily life, short enough to fit around real schedules. You emerge feeling clearer, calmer, and connected to the language of your own body.

02

Live with the Academy Director, every week

Taught by Vaidya Jayarajan Kodikannath, Academy Director of Kerala Ayurveda. Not prerecorded lectures or a teaching assistant. The Director himself, live, for 90 minutes a week. The same Vaidya who oversees our 600 hour and 1,000 hour clinical certifications teaches this beginner journey.

03

Personalized to your constitution

Not generic wellness advice. The program shows you how Ayurveda works for your specific body, sleep, digestion, and emotional patterns. By the end, you have a personalized toolkit for sustainable wellness that grows with you. No extremes, no rigidity.

04

Teachings rooted in classical Kerala lineage

Not surface level social media Ayurveda. The same root Vedic texts taught in Kerala for generations, brought to you by a BAMS trained Vaidya from a Kerala family. 80 years of clinical lineage behind every class.

Who this program is built for

If any of these sound like you, you're in the right place.

Ayurveda for Modern Living serves three kinds of students. The only thing they have in common is the willingness to listen to their bodies again.

The Burnout Recoverer

You're tired of being tired

The 3pm crash. The restless nights. The stress you carry into the next morning. You've tried the apps, the diets, the morning routines. You want something that actually works, rooted in tradition, with a path to recognize and respond to your body's signals before burnout happens again.

The Seeker

You're exploring Ayurveda for the first time

You've heard the word. Maybe read a book or followed a few accounts. You want a structured, 28 week container to actually integrate Ayurveda into your life. No prerequisites. No health background needed. Just curiosity and willingness to meet yourself where you are.

The Future Practitioner

You're considering professional study

You're thinking about Ayurveda as a career, but you want to know whether it fits before committing to a 300 or 600 hour certification. Ayurveda for Modern Living is a pathway forward. The same Vaidya who teaches the beginner program oversees the certification ladder you might continue into.

What you'll actually learn

By the end, you'll be able to do things, not just know things.

This is a practical journey, which means it's built around capability. Here's what you'll walk away able to do, 90 minutes a week at a time.

Read your body's signals the way Ayurveda has read them for 5,000 years.
Discover your unique constitution and how it shapes your energy, digestion, sleep, and emotions.
Build morning rituals and night time practices that recalibrate your nervous system in 10 minutes a day.
Eat for your specific needs and know which foods energize you versus drain you.
Use kitchen and herbal remedies for common imbalances, before they become reasons for a clinic visit.
Where this can take you

What students actually do with the program.

You don't have to know which path is yours when you start. Here's how the journey tends to unfold.

Personal transformation

Most students join Ayurveda for Modern Living to feel different in their own body. Steady energy in the morning. Mind clear by 9am. No 3pm crash. Sleep through the night. By Part 2 most students are seeing these shifts. Family and friends notice before you do.

A toolkit for your family

The herbal and kitchen based remedies in Part 3 don't stay yours alone. Students cook for partners, plan meals for parents, support sleep for kids, and bring practices into the home. The framework scales from one person to a household.

A philosophy of living

Part 4 takes the framework beyond personal health into sustainability, conscious consumption, and mindful creation. Ayurveda extends beyond your body. It's how you eat, what you buy, the rhythms you keep with the seasons, and how you live in relationship with the world.

A pathway to professional study

For some students, Ayurveda for Modern Living is the open door. After 28 weeks of practical Ayurveda you have a clear sense of whether you want to go deeper into our 300 hour Holistic Ayurvedic Coach program, or the 600 hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor certification. The Academy Director teaching this program also oversees those pathways.

Students earn a Certificate of Completion from Kerala Ayurveda Academy at the end of the 28 week journey.

The 28 week journey

Four parts. One steady arc.

Part 1 is the foundation for the entire journey, the rest unfolds from there. You must complete Part 1 before taking any additional parts, since it's the essential blueprint for everything else. After that, you can take additional parts individually, or save by enrolling in the complete 4 part journey.

01

Foundations of Ayurveda

10 weeks · 15 hours · The essential blueprint
+
Kick off your journey by discovering the timeless relevance of Ayurveda, an ancient system of medicine that offers practical insights for modern living. Across ten weeks of live class you'll explore the 5 elements and 3 doshas, the structural and functional basis of life, and learn how the mind body system works. You'll uncover what it truly means to be healthy from both a functional and structural perspective, and discover your own unique constitution, your personal blueprint for balance. By the end of Part 1 you have the roadmap for everything that follows, and a clear sense of how to bring Ayurvedic principles into your home and lifestyle.
02

Daily Rhythm, Diet, Sleep & Movement

Working with nature's rhythms, not against them
+
Part 2 brings the foundations into your daily life. Ayurveda views self care as daily alignment with nature's rhythms, a sacred dialogue between body, mind, and spirit. You'll explore the consistent and coherent principles of a healthy diet for you specifically, and discover the art and science of Ayurvedic cooking that helps create balance. You'll learn why sleep (Nidra) is one of the three pillars of life, along with diet and energy regulation, and how to recalibrate it. You'll explore movement as medicine, choosing the right type and intensity of exercise according to your constitution (Prakriti) and current state (Vikruti), without depleting your energy. And you'll learn how Ayurveda and Yoga work as sister sciences, with mindful practices such as meditation, breathwork, and movement that strengthen the mind and balance the emotions. Closing with seasonal awareness: how to live in harmony with the changing seasons, adjust your diet and lifestyle as nature shifts, and recognize when your system needs a gentle cleanse.
03

The 3Ms: Meditation, Massage, Mindful Eating

Become your own healer with kitchen and herbal remedies
+
Ayurveda empowers you to be your own healer. Part 3 introduces the magic of the 3Ms, Meditation, Massage, and Mindful Eating, and the herbal and kitchen based remedies for digestion, sleep, and radiant skin. Simple, practical remedies for common imbalances, using everyday ingredients and mindful practices to maintain wellness at home.
04

Ayurveda for a Sustainable Life

Honor the Earth. Connect to the greater web of life.
+
Ayurveda extends beyond personal health, it's a philosophy of living in harmony with the world around us. In this closing part, you'll learn how to bring Ayurvedic principles into your home and lifestyle through sustainability, conscious consumption, and mindful creation. Practices that honor the Earth, reduce waste, and connect you to the greater web of life. Everything from Parts 1 through 3 woven into a way of living you carry forward.
How the program works

Designed to fit a real life, not pause one.

1

90 minutes a week

One 90 minute live class on Thursday evenings, 5:30 to 7:00 PM Pacific Time. The practices you'll learn take 10 to 20 minutes daily. The goal isn't to add to your plate.

2

Live online with Vaidya Jayarajan

Every class is taught live by the Academy Director himself. Not prerecorded. Not a teaching assistant. Bring your questions, hear the answers in real time.

3

Four parts, joinable individually

Complete Part 1 first. After that, take each subsequent part as you're ready, or save by enrolling in the complete 4 part journey.

4

Certificate of completion

Finish the 28 weeks and receive a Certificate of Completion from Kerala Ayurveda Academy. The framework stays with you for life.

Your teacher

Taught live by Vaidya Jayarajan Kodikannath.

Academy Director of Kerala Ayurveda. A Kerala native from a Vaidya family, with over two decades of clinical and teaching experience across India and the United States. The same Vaidya who oversees our 600 hour and 1,000 hour clinical certifications teaches every class of this beginner journey himself.

What is a Vaidya?

A Vaidya is a classically trained Ayurvedic expert. BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) is India's accredited university degree spanning Ayurvedic theory, classical texts, anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical training, from its authentic training system.

What we see every cohort

Three things our students didn't expect.

01

How fast the small shifts compound

Most students arrive expecting a big lifestyle overhaul. Instead, the program teaches small shifts, 10 to 20 minutes a day. By Part 2, the cumulative effect surprises them. Steady energy, clearer mornings, easier digestion, deeper sleep.

02

It changed how the household eats

Students don't keep the practices to themselves. Partners, parents, kids end up around the same dinner table, eating the same way. Several students tell us their families noticed the shift before they did.

03

The path kept opening

A meaningful share of Ayurveda for Modern Living students continue into the certification programs after Part 4. Not because we sold them on it. Because once you feel the difference 28 weeks of practical Ayurveda makes, you want to know what 300 or 600 hours of clinical training does.

The pathway forward

Ayurveda for Modern Living is your entry point. The path opens from there.

For some students, Ayurveda for Modern Living is the journey. For others, it's the open door. After 28 weeks of practical Ayurveda, you have a clear sense of whether you want to go deeper, into our 300 hour Holistic Ayurvedic Coach (HAC), the 600 hour Level I Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC), or beyond into clinical practitioner training. The same Academy Director teaching this program oversees the full certification ladder.

Common questions

The questions most students ask first.

I'm busy. Will this actually fit my life?
This program was designed for busy people. Sessions are 1.5 hours weekly, and the practices you'll learn take 10 to 20 minutes daily. The goal isn't to add more to your plate. It's to help you work with your body instead of against it, so everything in your life flows more easily.
What are the prerequisites?
None. No prior knowledge of Ayurveda, no health or wellness background, no other certifications. Just curiosity and the willingness to meet yourself where you are. The program begins with the fundamentals.
It's January 29 already. Is it too late to join Part 1?
No. Part 1 runs for 10 weeks, and it's still joinable. All live sessions are recorded, so you can catch up on any classes you missed before joining. You'll also want to join now to enroll in Parts 2 through 4 when they begin.
Do I have to take all 4 parts?
No. You must complete Part 1: Foundations before taking any additional parts, because it's the essential blueprint for everything else. After that, you can take additional parts individually or save by enrolling in the complete 4 part journey. Many students do Part 1 first, then decide.
What if I miss a class?
All live sessions are recorded and available through the student portal for replay. Many students attend live when possible and watch recordings during busy weeks. The cohort community is part of the experience, so we recommend attending live when you can.
Is this a certification program?
Ayurveda for Modern Living is a 28 week beginner journey, not a clinical certification. Students earn a Certificate of Completion at the end. If you want to study Ayurveda professionally, Ayurveda for Modern Living is often the pathway to our 300 hour Holistic Ayurvedic Coach (HAC) or 600 hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor (AHC) certifications, which are designed to NAMA's competency standards.
Will I be able to coach others or treat illness after Ayurveda for Modern Living?
Ayurveda for Modern Living is built for personal transformation and household wellness, not professional practice. You'll have a personalized toolkit for sustainable wellness for yourself and your family. If you want to coach clients formally or work clinically, you'll continue into our certification programs.
Who is this taught by?
Every class is taught live by Vaidya Jayarajan Kodikannath, the Academy Director of Kerala Ayurveda USA. He's a Kerala native from a Vaidya family, BAMS trained at Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala, with over two decades of clinical and teaching experience. Past President of NAMA. The same Vaidya who oversees our 600 hour and 1,000 hour clinical certifications teaches Ayurveda for Modern Living himself.
What's the refund and withdrawal policy?
